F. A. Q.

What is a fusion?

A fusion is a musical or artistic piece which combines the music from multiple different songs or cultures into one piece.

It joins together two separate cultures or concepts into one presentation, expressing the underlying unity in our different cultures and arts.

If I want to participate in a fusion, what are the steps after I contact you?

After you contact us, we will view your form as soon as possible. We will then work with you to determine possible fusion ideas and partners for you to work with.

Don’t worry if you don’t know exactly what you want your piece to look like; we’re here to guide you through that process.

We’ll work closely with you to help you develop your fusion piece, as well as provide you with a mentor to give you feedback.

Can I choose my group or partner if I do a fusion?

Yes!

However, if you do not have a partner or group in mind already, we can pair you up with another participant.

Are there any restrictions on what we can do?

We wish for our products to be visible to those of all different ages, so we have certain guidelines on what is appropriate.

View this page for specifics on what is and isn’t allowed.

What cultures of art can participate?

All cultures can participate! We aim to promote arts from all different cultures, so we thrive on the diversity of those who create with us.

Do I need to know how to make a fusion to participate or have an idea in mind already?

No, you do not. If you don’t have any ideas or experience already, we can give you options based on the art you wish to perform, as well as walk you through the process and provide you with feedback.

How do I nominate my teacher to be a mentor?

Visit our Mentorship page and fill out the google form to nominate someone you know, or contact us directly.

How else can I help if I can’t do a fusion?

You can support in many ways!

You can donate and spread the word to your friends and family, as well as watch our videos and attend our live events.

You can also perform a non-fusion piece during our live events, take photos/videos at these live events, edit our fusion videos, manage our blog, and supervise events.

View our Support page for more information.

What is the purpose of these fusions?

The purpose of these fusions is to spread the message of cultural unity. These fusions combine the art from multiple cultures into one piece, demonstrating the unity underlying these various, diverse forms of art.

How do these fusions raise money?

These fusions are the centerpiece of our live and online events, during which we fundraise for Doctors Without Borders.

What do mentors do?

Mentors view the rough draft videos of participant’s fusions and provide structured feedback on both the individual’s performance as well as the entire ensemble for no cost.

Mentors do not serve to replace private teachers or lessons; they are there to provide supplemental feedback and guide the artists.
